India Monsooned Malabar AA, coffee 200 g
India Monsooned Malabar AA is a rich, mellow coffee with a full body, dark chocolate and walnut notes, and virtually no perceptible acidity. Its character comes from the distinctive monsooning process and our dark roast (8/10), while the aroma reveals hints of spice and caramel.
India Monsooned Malabar AA comes from Karnataka, India, where coffee is grown at 1000–1500 metres above sea level. It combines several Arabica varieties, with its distinctive character shaped by monsooning — exposing previously dried and hulled beans to humid monsoon air.
The history of this process is linked to long sea voyages from India to Europe. Aboard wooden sailing ships, humid air gradually changed the colour, size and flavour of the coffee beans. Today, this effect is recreated in coastal warehouses, where the beans are exposed to moisture-laden monsoon winds and regularly turned to ensure even processing.
We choose a dark roast (8/10) for this coffee to highlight its dark chocolate notes and sweet, full-bodied foundation. The flavour is rich and mellow, with virtually no perceptible acidity and notes of dark chocolate and walnut. The aroma carries hints of spice and caramel.
